Event InformationIf most of the BLOB files on the Recovery Solution server are lost and there is no tape backup available, user registrations can still be kept in case the Recovery Solution SQL database is intact. This means that there is no need to reinstall the software and Recovery Solution Agents on all of the machines and start from the beginning. Although the previously backed up data will still be lost.

1. Stop the Altiris Recovery Solution service.
2. Open the Microsoft Query Analyzer and change the database to the Recovery Solution database (the default name is AeXCRDatabase for 5.x and AeRSDatabase for 6.x). Type in and execute the following script:
EXEC PurgeDatabase 1,1,1,1,16,0
GO Delete DeletedBlobs
NOTE: This will take some time for the script to execute. Prior to starting the script make sure that the SQL TempDB has plenty of free space available.
3. Use Windows Explorer to delete all of the BLOB files (BLOB*.dat) from all locations.
4. Restart the Altiris Recovery Solution service.
5. Ensure that all users perform snapshots as soon as possible to protect their current data. All previously protected data has been lost.
