Event Id58053
Event SourceBackup Exec
DescriptionBackup Exec cannot use this tape device because it has detected a mismatched tape device serial number. The device status has been changed to offline. Please restart all Backup Exec services to fix this problem.
Event InformationInformation from veritas:
Hotfix 19 will need to be uninstalled in order to resolve this problem. The following files are the ones that will need to be reverted to a version from before Hotfix 19 was installed:

BEERRORS_*.DLL (All)
IPVLAPI.DLL
PVLSVR.EXE
PVLSVR_*.DLL (All)

The files that have "(All)" after them have multiple variations for each language.
To replace the files, there are three options:
1. Contact VERITAS Technical Services to obtain older versions of the files.
2. If a SCSI tape device is available on the local machine, or if a remote machine is available to restore the files, the files can be restored from tape backup.
3. Uninstall Backup Exec for Windows Servers 9.1 without choosing to completely remove all files. This will leave the data files behind so that upon reinstall of Backup Exec for Windows Servers 9.1 all jobs, catalogs, and history will still be present while the BEWS 9.1 program files will all be installed at the base 9.1.4691.0 level.

Hotfix 19 for Backup Exec for Windows Servers 9.1 adds enhanced error detection for Plug and Play drivers and allows Backup Exec to verify SCSI tape drive serial numbers when reestablishing a lost connection to SCSI tape drives. Since this fix only applies to SCSI devices, it is not necessary in an IDE only environment. If running a mixed SCSI and IDE environment, it is recommended that the IDE devices are moved to another system until this issue is addressed.
