DescriptionAn error occurred while attempting to log into the following server: "SQL_SERVER_NAME"
Event InformationThis error occurs under the conditions listed below:
1. When SQL 2000 servers are being selected without having the proper license for the Backup Exec Agent for SQL 2000 option. If the Agent for SQL option is listed under Help | About Backup Exec, then Backup Exec is unable to back up SQL 2000 servers. The Agent for SQL license key is useful to back up SQL 6.5 or SQL 7.0 servers only. The Agent for SQL 2000 license key is required for backing up SQL 2000 servers.
In this case, the error can be resolved by using the Agent for SQL 2000 option. The Agent for SQL option can be upgraded to the Agent for SQL 2000 option. This component of the backup software is a paid purchase option. Please contact VERITAS to purchase this option or to upgrade to this option.
2. When backing up a remote SQL 2000 server that was upgraded from a previous version of SQL, and the version of the SQL Enterprise Manager on the backup server has not yet been upgraded. Upgrade the copy of Enterprise Manager on the backup server to match the highest version of Microsoft SQL that is running in the SQL environment.
3. When the Remote Registry Service service is not started (Figure 2), and an attempt is made to connect to remote servers with SQL Server installed.
Reference LinksWhen selecting a Microsoft SQL 2000 server using VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 8.x for Windows NT and Windows, the error "NEWFS_BAD_ATTACH_TO_SERVER" is generated, and Event ID 57857 is logged in the Event Viewer.

When attempting to select Microsoft SQL 7 Databases in Backup Selections, error NEWFS_BAD_ATTACH_TO_SERVER appears; Event IDs 57857, 57856 are logged in the Windows Event Viewer Application log.
