Cause :
This event is logged when Windows Media Center Extender setup cannot configure the Windows Media Center PC for use with the Extender.
Resolution :
Windows Media Center PC Setup and Configuration
To determine how to fix this error condition, examine the error code reported in the event log message. The error code is displayed in the decimal numbers.
The event log message can report the following error codes:
Error Code -10
Error Code -102
Error Code -105
Error Code -106
Error Code -107
Error Code -108, -109, and -110
Error Code -111
Error Code -112
Error Code -113
Error Code -114
Error Code -115
Error Code -10
This error code indicates a permission error. The error code occurs if the User Account Control dialog box is dismissed or permission is not granted to start the Windows Media Center Extender Configuration during setup. You should restart the add Extender task and grant permission.
To grant permission:
1.Begin Extender setup by launching Media Center on the PC and clicking Tasks and then click Add Extender.
2.Follow the on screen instructions. When the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is Media Center Extender Configuration, and then click Continue.
Error Code - 102
This error code indicates a network connection error. This error code might occur if one of the following conditions is true:
The network cable is unplugged from the Windows Media Center PC.
The network cable is unplugged from the router, switch, or hub.
The network card is disabled.
To resolve this issue, make sure the network card is enabled and has connectivity to the network.
Error Code -105
This error code indicates a network location error. This error code will occur if the network location of the Windows Media Center PC has not been identified or there was a problem when checking the configured network location.
To resolve this issue, make sure a network location type has been identified.
1.Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet and then click Network and Sharing Center.
2.If the network location is listed as Identifying, wait for the network location to be identified and then try to add the Extender again.
Error Code -106
This error code indicates that the Network List Service is not started. You should start the Network List Service.
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To start the Network List Service:
1.Click the Start button, then type services in the Start Search box and press Enter.
2.Under Services (Local), right-click Network List Service, and then click Properties.
3.On the General tab under Service status, click Start.
4.To start the service automatically each time the PC is restarted, in the Startup type list, click Automatic.
Note: If you stop, start, or restart a service, any dependant services are also affected.
Error Code -107
This error code indicates that the network location of the Windows Media Center PC has not been identified. You should verify the network location type.
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To verify the network location type:
1.Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet and then click Network and Sharing Center.
2.If the network location is listed as Identifying, wait for the network location to be identified and then try to add the Extender again.
Note: If your computer is part of a domain, you cannot change the network location type because it is controlled by your network administrator.
Error Code -108, -109, and -110
These error codes indicate that the Media Center Extender exception is not set in the Windows Firewall. You should manually configure the Media Center Extender exception in the Windows Firewall.
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To manually configure the Media Center Extender exception in the Windows Firewall:
1.Click the Start button, click Control Panel, and then click Security.
2.In Windows Firewall, click Allow a program through Windows Firewall.
3.Click the Exceptions tab. Select the Media Center Extenders check box and click Apply, if this option was not already enabled.
4.Click the General tab, and make sure that Block all incoming connections is not selected.
