DescriptionDHCPV6 Relay Agent has discarded a packet received on the local interface with IP address: %1. The packet had a seconds-since-boot of: %2, which is less than the minimum value needed for packets to be forwarded on this interface. The seconds-since-boot field in a DHCP REQUEST packet indicates how long the DHCP client machine which sent the packet has been trying to obtain an IP address.

This event is logged when DHCPV6 Relay Agent has discarded a packet received on the local interface with IP address.

Resolution :

Configure or reinstall DHCPv6 Relay Agent or check memory status

Possible resolutions:
  • Remove and add the DHCPv6 Relay Agent. For more information, see the "Remove and reinstall the DHCPv6 Relay Agent" section.
  • This computer might be low on memory. For more information, see the "Check memory usage on the server" section.
To perform these procedures, you must have membership in Administrators , or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

Remove and reinstall the DHCPv6 Relay Agent

To remove and reinstall the DHCPv6 Relay Agent:
  1. Open Routing and Remote Access. Click Start , click Run , type rrasmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.
  2. In the console tree, expand IPv6 , right-click DHCPv6 Relay Agent , and then click Delete .
  3. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
  4. Under IPv6 , right-click General , and then click New Routing Protocol .
  5. Click DHCPv6 Relay Agent , and then click OK .
Check memory usage on the server

To check memory usage on the remote access server:
  1. On the remote access server, click Start , click Run , type taskmgr , and then click OK .
  2. In the Windows Task Manager dialog box, click the Performance tab.
  3. Under Physical Memory , check the remote access server's memory usage.
  4. If necessary, free up available memory by ending nonessential applications or processes.
Verify :

To verify that the DHCPv6 Relay Agent is working:

From the router with the DHCPv6 Relay Agent enabled, use the ping command to ping each of the DHCPv6 servers that are configured in the DHCPv6 Relay Agent dialog box on the remote access server.
