Event InformationCAUSE:
This error is found in the application log of the Windows NT or Windows 2000 Event Viewer, and is caused by a general corruption of the configured notification events for Backup Exec. The error is generated in the Event Viewer whenever the Backup Exec services are started.SOLUTION:
To correct the problem, the "Configured Events" portion of the registry for Backup Exec must be deleted, and then the necessary notification events can be recreated.
To remove the Configured Events key from the registry, perform the following steps:
1. Stop all Backup Exec services in Control Panel | Services (Windows NT 4.0) or Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services (Windows 2000)
2. Run REGEDT32
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows Registry Editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
3. Browse to the following location in the registry:
a. For Backup Exec 7.2/7.3 revision 2371:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Seagate Software | AlertServer | Configured Events
b. For Backup Exec 7.3 revision 2570 or higher:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | VERITAS | AlertServer | Configured Events
4. With the Configured Events folder selected, click Edit, Delete
5. Start all Backup Exec services
6. Open Backup Exec and recreate notification events in Tools, Notification Setup.
