DescriptionAn error was encountered converting volume %2.
Event InformationAccording to Microsoft :
Cause :
This event is logged when an error was encountered converting volume.
Resolution :
Run the chkdsk tool on the BitLocker-enabled volume
BitLocker Drive Encryption cannot work correctly if the computer hardware is malfunctioning or the disk contains excessive bad sectors or logical errors. To correct this situation, use the chkdsk tool to check and repair a disk, or replace any malfunctioning hardware.
To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To use the chkdsk tool to check and repair a disk:
1.Click Start.
2.Type cmd in the Start Search box.
3.Right-click cmd.exe in the Programs section of the search results.
4.Click Run as administrator.
5.If the User Account Control prompt appears, verify the displayed action is what you requested, and then click Continue.
6.At the elevated command prompt, type chkdsk c: /R where c: is the drive being encrypted.
Verify :
To verify that BitLocker volume conversion has completed successfully, perform the following procedures, as needed.
To perform these procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
If you replaced the disk hardware, you first need to re-enable BitLocker by using the following procedure.
To re-enable BitLocker:
1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click Security.
3.Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
4.If the UAC prompt appears, verify the action is what you requested, and then click Continue.
5.Under the volume to be encrypted, click Turn On BitLocker.
Once BitLocker has been re-enabled (or if you did not replace hardware), continue with the following procedure:
To verify that BitLocker has completed converting the volume:
1.Click Start.
2.In the Start Search box, type eventvwr.msc, and then press ENTER.
3.If the UAC prompt appears, verify the action is what you requested, and then click Continue.
4.Examine the System log. Once encryption has completed successfully, event 24579 is recorded in the System log under the event source Microsoft-Windows-BitLocker-Driver.
