If the computer exists in DNS and you are able to contact the computer using the Ping command-line tool, try managing the computer remotely. If you are unsuccessful, you probably do not have the access permissions necessary to install the MOM agent software. If the Agent Manager fails to access a computer because of permission issues, it generates an event 21196. This event is also generated if the Agent Manager cannot use the Remote Registry service to access the registry of a managed computer. To resolve these issues, try the following:
1. Verify that the service account used by the Agent Manager has full administrative privileges on the agent computer. Several events can indicate that account issues are preventing the agent from being installed, including events 21197, 21198, and 21199. Account privileges are provided using one of the following methods, depending on your security requirements:
2. Adding the service account used by the Agent Manager to the agent computer and giving this account full administrative privileges to the agent computer.
3. Adding the service account that is used by the Agent Manager to the domain administrator group.
4. Verify that the Remote Registry service is started on the agent computer and that the Agent Manager is given sufficient permissions to access this service.
5. Join the computer to the relevant domain.
