Event Information According to Microsoft :

Cause :

This event is logged when Resultant Set of Policy data for software installation policy settings could not be logged.

Resolution :

Correct failed RSOP Software Installation

Possible resolutions include:
  1. Use the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) to ensure the associated WMI filter exists in the domain. If it does not exist, remove the link from the associated Group Policy object, or recreate the WMI filter and associate it with the Group Policy object.
  2. Use the WMIDiag utility to diagnose the problem further.
Verify :

Group Policy Software Installation only occurs during computer startup and user logon. Software installation does not apply to computers or users during ther periodic background refresh. Therefore, you should reboot the computer or log off and log on to determine if Group Policy Software Installation is working correctly for the computer or user.

Group Policy Software Installation is working correctly if the last Group Policy Software Installation event to appear in the System event log has one of the following event IDs:
  • 201- 203
  • 301- 308
