------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem:
PowerChute plus version 5.1 for Windows NT integrates with the Windows NT Performance monitor. This integration allows tracking of data from an APC UPS. Upon installation of PowerChute plus, certain changes to the Systems registry are made, in order for the performance monitor counters to activate. If these changes are not made, then the NT Service Control Manager will report "one or more services failed to start. . ." and the Windows NT Event Viewer, will report "The open procedure "UPS" in DLL "apcctrs.dll" failed Performance data for this service will not be available, status code returned DWORD 0."
Solution:
1. Find out if the UPS object is being added to the Performance Monitor:
a. Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Performance Monitor
b. Once in the Performance Monitor screen, click on the + in the tool bar.
c. Next click on the drop down arrow for Object. Is there a UPS object in the list? If so see if it can be added to the list and then proceed to step 4. If the UPS object is not in the list, then proceed to step 2.
2. If the UPS object is not listed in the Performance Monitor, then find out where Powerchute is installed to. If it is installed to C:\ProgramFiles\Pwrchute, try removing the software and re-installing to C:\Pwrchute.
a. Stop the UPS service in the Control Panel
b. Add/Remove Programs
c. Remove PowerChute plus
d. Re-install PowerChute plus
3. If upon re-installing PowerChute plus, you still receive this error message: "The open procedure "UPS" in DLL "apcctrs.dll" failed Performance data for this service will not be available, status code returned DWORD 0." verify that the registry changes, that PowerChute plus should make for the Performance Monitor to work, were made. These changes should occur in two different places:
a. Start | Run
