If a driver update is available for the tape device or the controller, try installing it 2. If a firmware update is available for the tape device or the controller, try installing it 3. Try the drive on another controller card 4. Try the controller cards on another PCI slot on the motherboard 5. Try the drive or controller card on another system 6. Try removing some devices from an overloaded card by adding an extra controller to share the load 7.
