Yes. SMEX schedule scans can be monitored in order to verify when the process started and stopped. Monitoring is accomplished by enabling the log for the Virus Scan API of Exchange:
1. Open the Exchange Administrator.
2. Go to the server where ScanMail is installed.
3. Right-click the server and then click Properties.
Note: Simultaneously pressing the Alt and Enter keys also activates the Properties dialog box.
4. Click Diagnostic Logging > MSExchangeIS > System.
5. Specify the logging value in the Virus Scanning to Minimum or above field and then click OK.
