Event Information | CAUSE: This Warning event may occur if the Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase entry for the Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service is removed or becomes corrupted. The routing engine component of Microsoft Exchange Server runs under IIS and uses information that is contained in the IIS metabase. Typically, this issue occurs when IIS is removed from and reinstalled on a computer that is running Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000. Additionally, this issue may occur when IIS stops responding or when the Exchange computer is turned off before the IIS shutdown is finished. RESOLUTION: To resolve this event, do one or more of the following: 1. If you have confirmed that a removed or corrupted IIS Microsoft Exchange Routing service entry is causing the problem, you can resolve this problem by restoring IIS from a recent backup, or by reinstalling Exchange Server 2003. For information about each of these specific methods, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 841576, The Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service does not start and logs events 116, 953, or 7023. 2. If you do not think that a removed or corrupted IIS metabase Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service entry is causing this problem, examine the Application log for relevant event messages. They may provide additional information about the underlying issue. |
