Event Id | 9022 |
Source | POP3 Connector |
Description | Failed to connect to the LDAP directory on host SBSSERVER. |
Event Information | "According to Microsoft: CAUSE : This message can occur when either the Microsoft Exchange Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) service has been disabled or the port number of the LDAP server has been changed. The POP3 Connector does not support LDAP queries on ports other than port 389. The POP3 Connector queries LDAP after downloading messages from the POP3 server to obtain the rfc822 attribute of a users e-mail address. This attribute is then used to obtain the X.500 distinguished name of the mailbox. This information is used internally by the POP3 Connector. If the LDAP service is not enabled, the POP3 Connector continues to deliver mail to the Internet Mail Service as expected, although the events that are listed in the ""Summary"" section continue to be logged in Event Viewer. RESOLUTION: To resolve this issue, reconfigure the LDAP service to work with the POP3 Connector. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Start the Exchange Administrator program and expand the tree in the left pane until you locate the Protocols container underneath your Site object. 2. Click the Protocols container, and then double-click the LDAP object on the right side to display its properties. 3. In the Port Number box, type 389. 4. Click to select the Enable protocol check box. 5. Click OK to save the settings. 6. Click the Protocols container under your server object in the tree in the left pane of the Exchange Administrator program. 7. Double-click the LDAP object on the right pane to display its properties. 8. In the Port Number box, type 389. 9. Click to select the Use site defaults for all properties check box. Click OK to save the settings. " |
