Event Information | When you use Microsoft Mobile Information Server to access an Exchange Server 5.5 mailbox, a timeout error message may appear on the device (the exact error message depends on the device) and the user may not be able to access the mailbox. The following event ID message may be logged in the Application event log. CAUSE: This problem can occur if remote procedure call (RPC) connectivity between the Mobile Information Server and the Exchange Server computer is not available. This problem can occur due to a firewall that does not enable all RPC ports to pass thru. WORKAROUND: To work around this problem, if a firewall is present, verify that the correct ports are open as per the article referenced in the "Cause" section of this article. For Exchange Server 5.5 computer access, the following ports must be available: Standard ports that you must have to access Mobile Information Server: 3269 - Global Catalog with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) 80 - Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) 53 - Domain name system (DNS) 389 - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) 36, 37 - Remote Procedure Call (RPC) 1026 - MSRPC 88 - Kerberos (if you use integrated Windows authentication) Ports that you must have to access Exchange Server 5.5: 1024 and higher - Dynamic RPC 50, 51, UDP 500 - IPSec (Exchange Server 5.5 on Microsoft Windows 2000) |
