Description | "An error occurred while doing a restore %server name%. Error code: %error code%. Error message: %error message%. " |
Event Information | Details: This is a generic error message indicating two possible error scenarios: 1. The SharePoint Portal Backup Interface returned an error. The text and the hex code associated with the error is displayed in the event log. Run the SharePoint Portal command line backup tool. If the command line application runs successfully, call VERITAS Technical Services. If the SharePoint backup tool fails, contact Microsoft Support. 2. A call to the SharePoint Portal Backup Interface did not return in a reasonable amount of time. The status returned is "This operation returned because the timeout period expired" and the hex code returned is: 0x5b4. If this occurs, increase the Backup Exec Exchange timeout period. The timeout period is configurable via the registry entry "SPS timeout" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:Software\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\Exchange. The value is in milliseconds, with 15 minutes being the default. Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes. |
