| Event Information | "According to Microsoft: Cause: This is a generic message indicating that there was some problem in the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) while sending mail outbound. User Action : By definition this error is lacking in specifics. However, checking netmon captures and manually submitting a message to the remote machine (telnet) can help define it. Possible causes are as follows: 1. The remote server may be rejecting the mail or otherwise failing to accept it. 2. The remote server is not capable of something that is required by the SMTP Virtual Server configuration such as SSL, BINARYMIME, authentication, and so on. (Some of these errors will be apparent.) 3. An internal SMTP error: contact Microsoft Product Support Services if the problem persists. " |
