| Event Information | CAUSE: This is a generic message indicating that there was some problem in the SMTP protocol while sending mail outbound. RESOLUTION: By definition this error is lacking in specifics. However looking at netmon captures and manually submitting a message to the remote machine (telnet) can help pin it down. Possible causes:: 1. The remote server may be rejecting the mail or otherwise failing to accept it. 2. The remote server is not capable of something that is required by the SMTP Virtual 3. Server configuration such as SSL, BINARYMIME, authentication etc. (some of these errors will be apparent). 4. An internal SMTP error: contact Microsoft Product Support if the problem persists. |
