Description | Kernel Mode Printer blocking policy is enabled. The attempt for %1 to use a Kernel Mode driver failed. |
Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause: An attempt was made to install a kernel-mode printer driver, either directly or by connecting to a shared printer on another computer that is using a kernel-mode driver. The Disallow installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers policy setting on Windows Server 2003 computers prevents kernel-mode drivers, also referred to as Windows NT 4.0 drivers, from being installed. This policy is enabled by default because kernel-mode drivers are less reliable than user-mode drivers. Resolution : Update the print driver to one that is not a kernel-mode print driver. Alternatively, you can disable the policy in Group Policy. |
