Description | DNS Server encountered invalid domain name offset in packet. Offset is the error <Error> |
Event Information | According to Microsoft: CAUSE: Certain queries to the DNS server (like a reverse lookup) result in a response that contains a damaged data section, and this can occur when the data in the packet uses compression. The damaged data packet causes the buffer to be overrun, which causes the DNS service to generate an access violation error message and hang. WORKAROUND: To work around this problem, disable logging on the DNS server: 1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click DNS. 2. Right-click the server, and then click Properties. 3. On the Logging tab, click to clear every check box under Debug Logging Options, and then click OK. |
