| Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause: This event is logged when the multicast IP address is being used by another windows Deployment services server. Resolution : Change multicast IP address The multicast server uses multicast IP addresses to connect client computers with an associated transmission. This means that each client computer that is connected to a multicast transmission is listening on the multicast IP address that is associated with that transmission. Problems occur when the multicast IP address is being used by another server at the same time. To perform this procedure, you must either be a member of the local Administrators group or have been delegated the appropriate authority. To change the multicast IP used by Windows Deployment Services: 1.Open the Windows Deployment Services MMC snap-in. 2.Right-click the server name, and then clickProperties. 3. See the ranges listed on the Network Settings tab. 4.UnderMulticast IP Address, select the appropriate option. You can use Multicast Address Dynamic Client Allocation Protocol (MADCAP) if it is available on your network. Or you can change the IP address range so that it does not overlap with any other servers on your network. Verify : To ensure that there are no IP address conflicts, do the following: 1)Verify that all multicast servers are using MADCAP to assign IP addresses. 2) * Make sure that the IP address ranges for each of your multicast servers do not conflict. If all of your multicast servers are Windows Deployment Services servers, you can configure these ranges by using the multicast server's properties (by right-clicking the server name in the Windows Deployment Services MMC snap-in and then clicking Properties. The ranges are specified on the Network Settings tab.) If you are using non-Microsoft multicast servers, see the specific server documentation for information about configuring these ranges. |
