Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause : This event is logged when the Windows Media Center Extender setup cannot exchange certificates with device. Resolution : Restore network connectivity To determine how to fix this error condition, examine the error code reported in the event log message. The error code is displayed in the decimal numbers. The event log message can report the following error codes: Error Code 80072efd Error Code 80040211 Error Code 80072efd and Error Code 80040211 These error codes indicate an issue with the network connectivity between the Extender and the Windows Media Center PC. Network connectivity can be impacted by outdated network card drivers on the Windows Media Center PC, faulty network equipment, or an incorrectly-configured router. You should update the Windows Media Center PC Ethernet network interface controller (NIC) driver, update the router firmware, and update the device firmware. Verify : You can verify that the security negotiation was complete using the event log. If the negotiation is successful, Event ID 504 with the Mcx2Prov event source will be written to the event log. To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. To verify that Event ID 504 is being written to the event log: 1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2.Double-click Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer. 3.If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue. 4.Expand Application and Services Logs, and then click Media Center. 5.Look for an event with a Source named Mcx2Prov and an Event ID of 504 |
