Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause : This event is logged when WLAN AutoConfig service has failed to start. Resolution : Start the WLAN AutoConfig service WLAN AutoConfig service has failed to start" errors This event is typically a result of win32 errors. This event is generated if the win32 reason code is returned when the WLAN AutoConfig component calls win32 APIs. There are two methods to determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not started: a)Determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not started by using the Services snap-in. b)Determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not startedd on a specific wireless connection by using thenetsh wlan command. To perform these procedures, you must be logged on by using a local computer Administrator account, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If you are not logged on by using an account that belongs to the Administrators group, you must be able to supply administrator credentials, in order to run the command prompt as administrator. Determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not started by using the Services snap-in: To determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not started by using the Services snap-in: 1.On a client computer, clickStart, right-clickComputer, and then clickManage. 2.InComputer Management (Local), clickServices and Applications, and then clickServices. 3.In the details pane, underName, navigate toWLAN AutoConfig. The WLAN AutoConfig service is not started if theStatus column for WLAN AutoConfig lists anything other thanStarted. Determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not startedd on a specific wireless connection by using the netsh wlan command To determine if the WLAN AutoConfig Service is not startedd on a specific wireless connection by using thenetsh wlan command: 1.ClickStart, click Run, typecmd, and then clickOK, to open a command prompt. 2.At the command prompt, typenetsh, press ENTER, typewlan, and then press ENTER. 3.In the netsh wlan context, typeshow autoconfig,and then press ENTER. The WLAN AutoConfig service is not started if the command renders the message:Auto Configuration logic is disabled on interfaceWireless Network Connection (where Wireless Network Connection is the name of the wireless connection inNetwork Connections). Start the WLAN AutoConfig service on a specific wireless interface by using the Netsh wlan command To start the WLAN AutoConfig service on a specific wireless interface by using the Netsh wlan command. 1.Click Start, clickAll Programs, and then clickAccessories. 2.Right-clickCommand Prompt, and then click Run as administrator, to run the command prompt as administrator. 3.At the command prompt, typenetsh, press ENTER, typewlan, and then press ENTER. 4.In the Netsh wlan context, type set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="Wireless Network Connection" where Wireless Network Connection is the name of the wireless connection inNetwork Connections. 5.Press ENTER. 6.Restart the computer. |
