Description | The server service was unable to recreate the share "Sharename" because the directory "path" no longer exists. |
Event Information | If you delete a directory before removing the share that points to the
directory, this message appears in the Event Viewer. RESOLUTION: To avoid receiving this event message in Windows NT 4, stop sharing the deleted directory in File Manager. To rectify, follow these steps: 1) Run File Manager. 2) From the Disk menu, select Stop Sharing. 3) Select the directory that has been deleted and click OK. To avoid receiving this event message in Windows 2000, stop sharing the deleted directory in the Computer Mangement Snapin: 1) Open the Computer Management Snapin from Administrator Tools. 2) Select Shares under System Tools, Shared Folders. 3) Select the share to remove and select Stop Sharing. An alternative is to modify the registry as follows: 1) Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe). 2) From the View menu, select the Tree and Data option. 3) Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Shares 4) Select the Share that no longer exists. 5) From the Edit menu, click Delete. 6) Quit Registry Editor. 7) Shutdown and restart Windows NT. |
