Event Information According to Microsoft :

Cause :

This event is logged when an exception occurred while enabling BITS uploads for the virtual directory.

Resolution :

Replace the corrupted configuration file

To resolve this issue, replace the corrupted configuration file, IIS ApplicationHost.Config.

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To replace the corrupted configuration file:
  1. Ensure that the Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Service service is started.
  2. Navigate to %Systemdrive%\inetpub\history to locate the last good configuration file. After you locate the last good configuration file, right-click the file, and then click Copy .
  3. Navigate to %Systemdrive%\system32\inetsrv\config\IIS ApplicationHost.Config , and replace this file with the last known good configuration file that you obtained in the previous step.
Verify :

To verify the BITS server has been configured correctly, start the BITS console and ensure that all the properties are displayed without any errors.

To start the BITS console:
  1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from the Start menu: Point to Administrative Tools , and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager .
  2. Click Features at the bottom of the IIS Manager screen.
  3. Click BITS Uploads and check the settings.
