DescriptionMessage Queuing Downlevel Client Support cannot start. This service can operate only on a domain controller. The service can be disabled by using Computer Management to change its startup type in the Properties dialog box from Automatic to Manual or Disabled.

This event is logged when Message Queuing Downlevel Client Support cannot start.

Resolution :

Run the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service on a domain controller

The Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service can run only on a domain controller. Use one of the following methods to resolve this issue:
  1. If the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service is running on Windows Server 2003 or later, make this computer a domain controller.
  2. Remove or disable the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service, and install the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service on a server that is acting as a domain controller.
Verify :

Verify that the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service is installed and running.

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators , or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To verify that the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service is installed and running:
  1. Open the Services snap-in. To open Services, click Start . In the search box, type services.msc , and then press ENTER.
  2. Scroll down the list of services to confirm the existence of the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service.
  3. Verify that the Message Queuing Windows 2000 Client Support service is started.
  4. For further confirmation, run a test application that uses the Active Directory features that you require.
