| Description | The Workstation service has not been started. |
| Event Information | Solution 1: This event take place if the dependencies of Netlogon service are not set correctly, i.e. Netlogon doesn’t depend on Workstation service. To correct it, I have followed the next steps: 1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe). 2. Locate and then click the "DependOnService" value under the following key in the registry: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon" 3. On the Edit menu, click Multi String, add line "LanmanWorkstation", and then click OK. 4. Quit Registry Editor. Solution 2: If you found 7024 event with following description ,"The Net Logon Service terminated with service specific error 2138" and event id 2138 from netlogon,following solution may help. 1. Remove and reinstall the Workstation service. To do this remove the "Client for Microsoft networks", reboot. Then add it back. Note that when you remove Client for MS networks it will also uninstall the Netlogon service. When you re-add it the netlogon service is reinstalled but set to manual and missing a dependency on the server service. Make sure you set netlogon to automatic and re-add the dependency on the server service (lanmanserver). |
