DescriptionProcess <process name> (PID=<process id>). Error ERROR_TIMEOUT (0x<error code>) occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain <name>
Event InformationAccording to Microsoft:
This event will be seen if Diagnostics Logging on the Topology category of DSAccess is set to Minimum for the server. It indicates that the DNS servers for the specified domain are not responding and therefore the domain controllers from the specified domain will not be used by DSAccess. As long as there is sufficient capacity in suitable domain controllers in other domains, mail flow will not be interrupted. However, it is recommended that this event be investigated and fixed as soon as possible. If the event contains the name of the local domain, topology discovery cannot be completed, and this will cause mail flow interruption. The following are the possible causes:
1. The DNS servers did not respond because the IP addresses of the preferred or alternate DNS servers with which this Exchange server is configured are incorrect.
2. There is a network connectivity problem that is preventing communication with the DNS servers.
3. The configured DNS servers are not running.
4. If there is no connectivity problem, and the DNS servers are running, then this computer could be using DHCP to obtain IP addresses for its DNS servers and the DHCP Server could be providing incorrect IP addresses.
User Action :
1. Contact your network administrator and verify that the IP addresses of the DNS servers used by this computer are correct.
2. Eliminate the possibility of a basic network connectivity problem by using the ping command to communicate with the listed DNS servers.
3. To determine if the DNS servers are running, use the DNS console in Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to view local and remote DNS servers.
4. Determine if this computer uses DHCP to obtain its DNS server IP addresses by typing IPCONFIG/ALL at the command prompt. Then, if the DHCP Enabled setting is set to Yes, it means that this computer is using DHCP to obtain DNS server addresses. Contact your network administrator to verify that the
