| Event Information | "According To Microsoft: CAUSE: A system administrator or a program such as a SQL Server service pack has started the SQL Server instance in single user mode. The -m option may have been specified at a command prompt or from a calling application. The option may also have been added to the startup parameters, which are accessible from the SQL Server Properties (General Tab) in Enterprise Manager. When the instance is started in single user mode, only members of the system administrator role are allowed to connect, and only one system administrator can connect at a time. RESOLUTION: If you need to use SQL Server while it is in single user mode, you must ensure you are the only one logging in to the instance. First, stop any applications or services which are configured to log in to this SQL Server instance as an administrator. Ask anyone with a system administrator login to close Enterprise Manager and any other applications that may have a connection to this instance of SQL Server. You may need to unplug the server from the network to prevent remote connections while you complete your activity. To remove this restriction, stop the SQL Server instance and restart it without the -m option. |
