Event Information | According to Microsoft: CAUSE: This problem occurs because the backup operation does not release the Hidden and ReadOnly attributes of the snapshot volume as expected. Therefore, the snapshot process is performed repeatedly until the computer stops responding. RESOLUTION Hotfix information A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, obtain the hotfix. Prerequisites You must be running Windows Server 2003 SP1 to install this hotfix. WORKAROUND : To work around this problem, follow these steps: 1. Restore the default permissions to the %Windir%\Registration folder. 2.Enable the DMBoot service. To do this, follow these steps: a) Click Start , click Run , type Regedit , and then click OK . b) Locate the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\dmboot c) Double-click the Start registry entry. d) In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, type 0 in the Value data box. 3.Extract the Windows Server 2003 SP1 package. 4. In the i386 folder, right-click the Dmreg.inf file, and then click Install. 5.Restart the server. |
