Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause : This event is logged when Windows is unable to connect to the Automatic Updates service. Resolution : This error might be caused by one of the following conditions: 1.The proxy server settings are incorrect. 2.Proxy authentication problems have occurred. 3.The connection between the client computer and the proxy server is broken. 1.The proxy server settings are incorrect To determine if there is a problem with server connectivity: i)Check Internet Explorer proxy server settings and ensure that you are communicating with the expected proxy server. To check for proxy server settings, open Internet Explorer. On theTools menu, clickInternet options, clickConnections, click the network connection being used, and clickSettings. ii)Check if the proxy server is set up to use the correct settings. iii)If Automatically detect settings is selected in Internet Explorer proxy settings, check the WinHTTP proxy settings. If you are running Windows Vista, open the Command Prompt window and typenetsh winhttp show proxy at the command prompt. If you are running Windows XP, open the Command Prompt window and typeproxycfg. 2.Proxy authentication problems have occurred |
