Event Information | According to a Usenet post from an Intel support engineer: "What fixed this problem for many users, was to enable S.M.A.R.T.* in the BIOS for all IDE drives. The Intel(R) Ultra ATA Storage Driver takes advantage of S.M.A.R.T., and actively looks for this feature. If disabled, the driver will report the absence of S.M.A.R.T. in the Event log (with the cryptic event ID 16 entry). The request is incorrectly formatted for \Device\Ide\IntelAta0). For more information on S.M.A.R.T. technology see the link below. When S.M.A.R.T. is enabled, the driver retrieves this information from the BIOS, and no hourly events will occur." Download the disk diagnosing utilities from the manufactures site and analyze disk for any problems. |
