Event Id | 14 |
Event Source | Backup Exec Oracle |
Description | Unable to logon to the Oracle server. Oracle use account name=SYSTEM SID=TEST |
Event Information | The Backup Exec Agent for Oracle Agent uses the Oracle Interface DLL, OCIW32.dll (Oracle Call Interface for Windows 32) to connect to the Oracle database. When Oracle is patched or upgraded from a previous installation, there is a chance that the patch will place the updated OCIW32.dll file into a directory other than the Oracle Home bin directory (for example, C:\winnt\system32). Since the OCIW32.dll file exists in a directory other than the Oracle home directory, when the Backup Exec Agent for Oracle attempts to call it, it hooks up either a wrong version of the DLL or a DLL not associated with the existing database instance. The Backup Exec Oracle Agent should be using the latest version of OCIW32.dll that exists on the server. If there are extra, outdated, or mismatched versions of OCIW32.dll placed in directories other than the Oracle home bin directory (for example, c:\winnt\system32), there is the possibility that the Backup Exec Oracle Agent will grab an outdated version of OCIW32.dll and fail to connect. There should only be one active version of OCIW32.dll and the latest OCIW32.dll should reside in the Oracle HOME\BIN directory. |
