Description | Site replication service was unable to obtain legacy account details and cannot continue. |
Event Information | When you install Exchange 2000 into an existing Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
environment that is in a topology with multiple domains, and Active Directory
sites, an Event ID 9152 from MSExchangeSA will occur. If you restart the
Exchange 2000 server, the Site Replication Service (SRS) does not start, the
above Event will logged in. CAUSE: This behavior can occur if you install another Exchange 2000 server in a different Active Directory site before replication occurs. After the installation of the second Exchange 2000 server, the directory replication cycle overwrites the msExchEncryptedPassword attribute. When the SRS runs again, it attempts to read the attribute, but is unable to locate it. WORKAROUND: 1. Start Exchange System Manager. 2. Locate Administrative Group - Site/Routing Group. 3. Open the properties of the Site/Routing Group. 4. If this is a mixed-mode site, which includes both Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000, the General tab will display the Exchange Service account. 5. Re-enter the Exchange Service account password. STATUS: Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. |
