Description | The File Replication Service cannot start replication set DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE) on computer TEST for directory e:\winnt\sysvol\domain because the type of volume \\.\e:\ is not NTFS 5.0 or later. The volumes type can be found by typing "chkdsk \\.\e:\". The volume can be upgraded to NTFS 5.0 or later by typing "chkntfs /E \\.\e:\". |
Event Information | According to Microsoft: CAUSE: This behavior occurs because the domain controller is not updated with the new drive letter for the Domain System Volume share (in this case, M:\Winnt\Sysvol). RESOLUTION To resolve this behavior, use the ADSIEdit tool to update the domain controller by adding the new drive letter: 1. Start the ADSIEdit tool, which is located on the Windows 2000 installation CD under \Support\Tools. 2. In the ADSIEdit tree, click the Domain Controllers organizational unit. 3. Click the name of your domain controller, click NTFRS Subscriptions, and then view the properties of the Domain System Volume share. 4. Change the property view to Mandatory. 5. Change the FRSRootPath value to indicate drive M. 6. Change the FRSStagingPath value to indicate drive M. 7. Stop and then restart the NTFRS service. |
