Description | The system failed to register host (A) resource records (RRs) for network adapter with settings: Adapter Name : {} Host Name : SERVERNAME Primary Domain Suffix : Domain DNS server list :192.168.1.206, 192.168.1.253 Sent update to server : 192.168.1.207 IP Address(es) :192.168.1.250. |
Event Information | This information from newsgroup may help: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The reason the system could not register these RRs was because of a security related problem. The cause of this could be (a) your computer does not have permissions to register and update the specific DNS domain name set for this adapter, or (b) there might have been a problem negotiating valid credentials with the DNS server during the processing of the update request. You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt.check the security permissions given to that computer to update the specific DNS set for this adapter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Symptom: Repeated Event 565 in Security Event log on Windows 2000 DNS server.Performing the ipconfig/registerdns step just brought up more of these events. Environment: 2003 Enterprise servers, each built as members of a mixed-mode 200 AD structure.Eventually, I discovered that the A records on the DNS server for each of my 2003 servers each have a permission set. For other servers in the AD structure, there was an entry ######$ (Full permissions) in the permissions of the A record, where ###### was the name of the server itself. To the permissions of each A record of my problems servers, I added an entry with full permissions. For example, if one server was SERVER01, I added an entry SERVER01$ with full permissions, to the permissions setting of its A record on the DNS server. I noted that the icon of the new entry went in as a computer icon, but sometime overnight it changed to a user icon, just like the existing, working machines. After that, no more errors! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
