Event Information | This information from some newsgroups may help you: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That would probably be the Authoritative DNS server for the reverse lookup on the IP address you are using on your machine.usually you need to create a reverse lookup zone for your subnet. However, if you have a public IP on the machine, you either must have the reverse lookup delegated to you or disable registration of the PTR records. If you create a public reverse lookup without the delegation, it will give you problems if you have an SMTP server that performs reverse lookups for SMTP server sending mail to it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A windows 2000 domain relies on DNS for the service and resource records of the domain controllers. DNS is required for AD domains. I can almost guarantee all your problems will go away if you install DNS on the DC and point all machines to the DC for DNS. This is a must and do not use your ISPs DNS in any NIC TCP/IP properties on any machine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
