Event Id110
SourceSharePoint Portal Server
DescriptionSharePoint Portal Server was unable to get some of the Virtual Server configuration for portal site . As a result, any backups of the portal site that are made using SQL Server backup tools will not contain all Virtual Server configuration.
Event InformationAccording to Microsoft :
CAUSE:

This behavior occurs if the account setting for the SharePoint administrators group is incorrectly configured. If the account setting for the SharePoint administrators group is incorrectly configured, SharePoint Portal Server 2003 cannot retrieve information about the server. Additionally, you may not be able to successfully restore SharePoint Portal Server 2003 data from backup.
The event ID 109 error message is logged when SharePoint Portal Server 2003 detects that backups that are not valid will be created if you use the backup and restore tools that are included in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to back up the databases that are used by SharePoint Portal Server 2003. Incorrect account settings can also affect usage analysis processing and the Alerts feature in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.
• The event ID 110 warning message indicates that SharePoint Portal Server 2003 can work around the issue. If you restore SharePoint Portal Server 2003 data, the restore operation will be successfully completed.
• The event ID 109 error message indicates that SharePoint Portal Server 2003 cannot work around the issue. If you restore SharePoint Portal Server 2003 data, the restore operation will not be successfully completed.
This behavior occurs most frequently when the SharePoint Portal Administration service is configured to log on as a user account that is not a member of one of the following groups:
• The SharePoint administrators group
• The local Administrators group on the server
When the SharePoint Portal Administration service is configured to log on as a user account that is not a member of these groups, the SharePoint Portal Administration service does not have permission to access the properties of the virtual server to create a complete and valid backup. Therefore, if you use the backup and restore tools that are included in SQL Server 2000 to back up the databases that are used by SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you cannot successfully restore the data from backup.

RESOLUTION:
To resolve this issue, make sure that the account setting for the SharePoint administrators group is configured correctly on the Set SharePoint Administration Group page of Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration. The account that you configure as the SharePoint administrators group must be one of the following account types:
• A Windows user account that is a member of the Administrators group
• A Windows security group account
You can configure a specific Windows user account as the SharePoint administrators account only when the default content access account and the SharePoint Portal Administration service account use the same Windows user account. In any other scenario, configure a Windows security group as the SharePoint administrators group.
To make sure that the account setting for the SharePoint administrators group is configured correctly, follow these steps:

1. Determine the user account that is configured as the default content access account. Then, determine the user account that the SharePoint Portal Administration service is configured to log on as. To determine these accounts, follow these steps:
a. To determine the user account that is configured as the default content access account, connect to the Configure Server Farm Account Settings page of SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration. To connect to the Configure Server Farm Account Settings page, start SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration, and then click Configure Server Farm Account Settings under Server Configuration.
b. To determine the user account that the SharePoint Portal Administration service is configured to log on as, click Start, click Run, type control admintools in the Open box, and then click OK. Double-click Services, double-click SharePoint Portal Administration, and then click the Log On tab.

2. Do one of the following tasks, depending on your situation:
• If the user account that is configured as the default content access account is a different user account from the user account that the SharePoint Portal Administration service is configured to log on as, follow these steps:
a. Create a new Windows security group, and then add the following user accounts to the security group:
• The user account that is configured as the default content access account.
• The user account that the SharePoint Portal Administration account is configured to log on as.
b. Configure the new Windows security group as the SharePoint administrators group:
1. Start Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration.
2. Under Security Configuration, click Set SharePoint administration group account.
3. Type the name of the Windows security group in the Group account name box, and then click OK.
Note Use the DomainName\GroupName format when you type the name of the Windows security group.
• If the user account that is configured as the default content access account is the same account as the user account that the SharePoint Portal Administration service is configured to log on as, configure the user account as the SharePoint administrators group:
1. Start Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration.
2. Under Security Configuration, click Set SharePoint administration group.
3. Type the name of the Windows security group in the Group account name box, and then click OK.
Note Use the DomainName\GroupName format when you type the name of the Windows security group.
