Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause : This event is logged when Active Directory Certificate Services was unable to build a new certificate or certificate chain.Resolutuion : Correct problems that can prevent revocation checking Revocation checking fails when every certificate in a chain cannot be verified. To fix this: 1.Confirm the certificates in the chain for the certification authority (CA). 2.Identify and correct resource problems that could be preventing revocation checking. 3.Enable CryptoAPI 2.0 Diagnostics to identify and resolve more advanced issues that can prevent revocation checking. Note To perform this procedure, you must have Manage CA permission, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. 1.Confirm the certificate chain for the CA To validate the chain for the CA: 1.ClickStart typemmc, and then press ENTER. 2.If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then clickContinue. 3.On theFile menu, clickAdd/Remove Snap-in, clickCertificates, and then clickAdd. 4.ClickComputer account, and click Next. 5.Select the computer hosting the CA, clickFinish, and then clickOK. 6.Select each CA certificate in the certificate chain. 7.On theAction menu, point toAll Tasks, and clickExport to start the Certificate Export Wizard. Save each certificate with a .cer extension. 8.Click Start, typecmd and press ENTER. 9.Type the following command for each CA certificate:certutil -urlfetch -verify 10.Run the same command again to check CRLs for the CA that was supposed to issue the certificate, as well as its chain. 11.Resolve any problems that are identified in the output from the command. |
