| Description | Server for NFS was unable to initialize a volume. NFS shares on the volume will not be available on the network. |
| Event Information | According to Microsoft : CAUSE: Server for NFS was unable to initialize a volume. This is a system-level error or the volume is not NTFS-formatted. If this is a system-level error, more problems should appear, such as users not being able to browse the volume in Windows Explorer or read/write files on the volume. If the specified volume is not NTFS-formatted, then users will be able to browse the volume in Windows Explorer. However, Server for NFS will not work - Server for NFS can only share files on an NTFS volume. The volume is not NTFS-formatted. To verify: Click Start and then click My Computer. Right-click a drive and select Properties. Verify that NTFS appears as the file system. If this error appears on an NTFS-formatted drive, check the other error messages to determine an appropriate action. RESOLUTION: If the volume is not formatted as NTFS, you need to create a NFS share on an NTFS volume and copy files to the new NFS share. If this is a system-level error, you will need to perform the repairs specified by other error messages. |
