SourceDHCPServer
DescriptionThe DHCP/BINL service has determined that it is not authorized to service clients on this network for the Windows domain: yourdomainname.com.
Event InformationOn your first attempt, you may not be able to authorize a new Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server on a network that already has authorized DHCP servers.

Later, the new DHCP server may be authorized but the existing DHCP servers may be unauthorized. If you attempt to authorize the original DHCP servers again, you may receive one of the following error messages:

The specified servers are already present in the Directory Service
-or-

DHCP Server not authorized
RESOLUTION :
This may happen if the IP address is changed on the DHCP server. To resolve this, unauthorize the server and authorize it again. This should authorize the server with the new IP address and allow DHCP to distribute leases. To prevent this from occurring, unauthorize the DHCP server in Active Directory before you change the IP address, then authorize it again when the change is completed.

To resolve this behavior, perform one or both of the following procedures:
Delete the DHCP servers in Active Directory Sites and Services, and then reauthorize the DHCP servers.
Authorize the DHCP servers by using Adsiedit.msc, which is an administrative tool that is included in the support tools for Windows 2000. You can install Adsiedit.msc from the Support\Tools folder on the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM or the Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM.
