Check virtual machine state If you were trying to take a VSS snapshot, try manually saving the virtual machine and then retry the VSS snapshot operation. If you were trying to restore a VSS snapshot, try turning off the virtual machine manually and then retry the restore operation. If you tried an abort of the writer operation or if the backup application has crashed, set the virtual machine to the running state manually and then try the backup operation again after the state transition is completed. Check Guest for failed VSS Snapshot Please check the event log in the guest to analyze why the VSS snapshot failed and then retry the operation.
