Event Information | According to Microsoft : Cause : This event is logged when DNS server was unable to create the path for file in directory. Resolution : Use a shorter file path The path name of a file is too long. Change the file name or path to shorten it, edit the corresponding key in the Windows registry to reflect the new path name, and then restart the DNS Server service. To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators , or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. To change a Domain Name System (DNS) path name in the Windows registry: Caution : Incorrectly editing the registry might severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data.
To verify that the DNS Server service is running properly, ensure that the DNS Server event log contains Event ID 2 and that the event log does not contain the following Domain Name System (DNS) error events:
