Description | The description for Event ID ( 10001 ) in Source ( AshWin ) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): Unable to open database. Verify data source name and availability. |
Event Information | Resolution: When AshWin is installed, setup automatically creates a Microsoft Access database. The Access databases name is derived from the computer name (NetBEUI name). If the computer name is longer than eight (8) characters and the system is using ODBC version 2.5 (figure 1.0) or older the APS will not be able to connect to the database. ODBC version 2.5 or older only supports 8.3 naming conventions and can not see an Access databases that has a name longer than eight (8) characters. This problem can be correct in two ways: 1.The Access database can be renamed to eight (8) characters or less 2.ODBC version 3 or newer can be installed ODBC DataAccess Kit version 3.5 is available as a "hot fix" that can be obtained on the FTP server. The file name is ODBCUPDT.EXE. This is a self-extracting archive that contains two files: a.WX1350.EXE (WinNT) b.WX1220.EXE (Win95/98) |
