1. Reseat all the cards and memory modules.
- Power down the system
- Disconnect the power cord
- Disconnect all the other cables on the back of the computer.
- Hold in the Power button for 30-45 seconds to discharge capacitors.
- Open the Dell up.
- Ground yourself to a metal piece of the case.
- Carefully remove and reseat each of the cards. Be sure to get them firmly back into position.
- Carefully remove and reseat the memory modules. Be sure that they are placed back into the slot that they came out of.
- Inspect the cards and memory modules once again to assure they are firmly seated.
- Check of loose connections on your hard drive and other drives....the ribbon cables and the DC power cables.
- Clean any dirt out of the system that might be impairing ventilation using a NON METALLIC brush or vacuum head.
- Close up the Dell cabinet.
- Reconnect the cables
- Reconnect the power cord

3. Check for out-of-date drivers on your hardware.
- Go to START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL-SYSTEM-HARDWARE tab-DEVICE MANAGER.
- Are any of the components flagged with a YELLOW ? or Yellow triangle? If so, the device is not working properly. This could be a hardware failure or a driver issue.
- Check the version level of the drivers for your graphics card, printer, sound card, CD drives, keyboard, mouse, and any other special hardware that you have...such as a scanner. Write down the driver version number and the manufacturer name for each of these devices.
- Then go to the manufacturers website and see what the latest version number is for hardware you have. For example, if you have an ATI graphics card, go to www.ati.com. You will see that the latest driver is V8.162.0.0. Also check the Dell Su
